Mr. Sam Bogan - Director of Bands
Mr. Sam Bogan is currently the Director of Bands at Northwest Cabarrus High School, where he conducts the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and the Marching Band.
Mr. Bogan holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Western Carolina University. While at Western Carolina University, Mr. Bogan was principle trumpet of the Wind Ensemble, Lead Trumpet for the Jazz Ensemble for seven semesters, Vocal Soloist for the concert choir, Lead Trumpet for the Catamount Chamber Singers, Oboist for the Civic Orchestra, and Trumpet Section Leader and soloist for the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band. He also held positions on the School of Music's Student Advisory Council and the Dean of Fine and Performing Arts Student Advisory Council. Mr. Bogan also held a brass caption head position with Western's marching band for three years. Mr. Bogan was President of the Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi for two years. He was also the song director for Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, conducting over forty male voices for many Mills Music Missions and Western Carolina Baseball Games. In the school year 2007/ 2008, Mr. Bogan received the Student Teacher of the Year Award from the College of Fine and Performing Arts.
In addition to his collegiate accolades, Mr. Bogan has also taught many camps all across North Carolina. Mr. Bogan has participated with several Blue Devil and Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps Clinics, Music Educators National Conference Clinics, and was on visual staff in 2006 with Carolina Gold Drum Corps Associates Drum & Bugle Corps.
Mr. Boganʼs professional affiliations include the MENC, NCMEA, Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Fraternity for Band Members, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Mr. Bogan is also married to Elena Bogan (love of his life), has two dogs and one cat (Bruce, Quincy, and Spaghetti).
